A kit, a book, and a thrift store initiative that turns repair into a creative act.
Overview
Mendable is a design-driven solution to make clothing repair approachable, creative, and accessible. Through the Mendable Kit, Mendable Book, and in-store Mendable Rack, the project reintroduces mending skills into everyday life, helping people repair, customize, and extend the life of their clothing.
The Problem
Fast fashion has made clothing disposable, leading to massive textile waste and a loss of repair skills. In Canada, over 500,000 tonnes of textiles end up in landfills each year, and fewer than 25% of Canadians know how to sew a button. Many want to be more sustainable but lack the tools, skills, or encouragement to repair.
The Solution
Mendable Kit
A beginner-friendly repair kit with all the essential tools, materials, and the Mendable Book.
Mendable Book
A small-format, zine-style guide with illustrated stitch tutorials, creative patching ideas, and re-use inspiration.
Mendable Rack
A thrift store display of clothing in need of repair, paired with kits and books to encourage hands-on mending.
The logo features hand-drawn, fabric-inspired letterforms that reflect the tactile, patchwork nature of mending. The tagline, Not broken, just mendable, reframes repair as an empowering and creative act. Typography combines Modern Love Caps for bold, handmade energy, and Tomarik Introvert with soft, rounded forms to convey warmth and approachability. Illustrations and layout are playful, clear, and instructional, making learning accessible to all skill levels.
To extend the brand into the digital space, I designed a social media campaign tailored for Instagram, combining product photography, lifestyle imagery, and engaging copy. Each post was built to do more than advertise it invites conversation, sparks curiosity, and reinforces the idea of mindful consumption.
Curious was created for individuals who want to make a change in their lives, put
themselves first and fuel their curiosity one drink at a time.
